Building a future together: AMH’s impact with HomeAid

At AMH, we believe everyone deserves access to a quality home. That’s why we build new communities and invest in rehabilitating existing homes, which adds more supply and better housing options to underserved markets.

But we know that there are still many people across the U.S. who struggle with housing insecurity. Homelessness is a complex issue that affects individuals from all walks of life, and collective efforts are essential in addressing this critical challenge.

By contributing to HomeAid’s ongoing construction, community engagement, and education initiatives, we hope to help build a future without homelessness together.

“[Our] commitment extends beyond our product to the communities where we live, work, and do business,” said David Singelyn, Chief Executive Officer of AMH, who joined HomeAid’s National Board of Directors in 2023. “Through our support of HomeAid, we seek to strengthen our support of neighborhoods across the country by empowering families living with housing insecurity to build a new life.”

Last year, AMH participated in HomeAid’s Utah Diaper House Competition, donating nearly 60,000 diapers. Given that babies typically use 10 diapers per day, these contributions were equivalent to 6,000 days’ worth of diapers, which will significantly improve the lives of families across the U.S., where:

One in three families struggle to afford diapers for their babies (CBS).

Many daycare centers require you to supply your child with all the diapers they need (National Diaper Bank Network).

And parents that cannot afford these items are unable to secure childcare and therefore meet their job requirements, contributing to unemployment and the loss of vital income streams (Center on Budget and Policy Priorities).

Since then, we’ve also raised funds for HomeAid Colorado through the Builders for Babies event, are preparing to participate once again in HomeAid Utah’s second Diaper House Competition, and have reaffirmed our commitment to the organization through our gold-level sponsorship.

We look forward to continuing this collaboration with HomeAid throughout 2024 as we work towards realizing our shared vision for a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable society.
